New Rentfic? From baka_sensei? No way. [Jul. 11th, 2007|11:56 pm]

[Current Mood |blankblank]
[Current Music |The Dark I Know Well - Spring Awakening]

(I've been gone forever. I'm a terrible mod, a terrible writer, and a terrible person. Don't kill me.)

Holy crap. It just FIGURES that the moment I start actually writing again, actually have IDEAS and PLOT BUNNIES bouncing around in my head, that I would have just started a second job and be searching tirelessly for a new apartment. I honestly don't know if anyone reads my crap anymore. That's how long I've been gone.

Anyway, this is for Katie, who took me to see Rent on Broadway (for real. As in the NederlanderZOMFGBBQHOTTNESS! I got to hug Tim Howar, who plays the dorkiest Roger around and who partially inspired this piece.) Thanks to her, I've not completely given up on Rentfic. Pray there will be more from me in the near future.

Title: Canabis and Care Bears
“I can’t believe we’re sitting around getting high and deciding which Care Bear everyone would be,” Roger said finally.“Somehow, sadly, I can,” Mark mused.
Pairings: Collins/Angel, Roger/Mimi, Mark/Mark's angst
Rating: PG? Are there swears? I don't want to check. Drugs. There are drugs. Crap. PG-13?

This was written (sort of) for Prompt #4 on

rentforbastards (I know it's over a year late. Deal), which was to have the Rent characters act in a childish manner. The only way I could get them to reach their inner child was by getting them high. Huh.

Crack!alert like whoa.

Fic: Names Under Which They Now Go [Jul. 6th, 2007|11:49 pm]

And just when it looked like I'd fallen off the face of RENT fandom (indeed, I don't think I've ever actually posted here yet. Oops?) here is a fic that I never thought I'd finish. But, clearly, I did. XD

Title: Names Under Which They Now Go
Summary: It would be easy and nice to say that they lived happily every after once Mimi came back, all smooth resolution and fade to black, but this wasn’t that kind of a story.
Pairings/Characters: Mark, Roger, Collins, mentions of the rest.
Rating: PG-13
Word Count 1,340
Notes: Title altered from "All Return Again" by Ralph Waldo Emerson. Thank you, Jonathan Larson.

FIC: They're Singing Happy Birthday... [May. 28th, 2007|03:06 pm]

[Current Music |30/90 - tick, tick... BOOM!]

Title: They're Singing Happy Birthday...
Characters/Pairing: Mark, Roger, Joanne, Maureen, Benny, Alison, Mimi, Collins, Angel, all canon pairings
Word Count: 1087
Rating: PG
Summary: Nine birthdays through the year of Rent...
Notes: Written as a (very late) birthday fic for varymydays. I'm sorry I fail, Rizzy-dear! I still love you! As a side note, did you know "Happy Birthday" is copyrighted material? Furthermore, it took two people to write that song. Just thought you should know that.
Disclaimer: I do not own Rent or any of its characters.

( They're singing happy birthday, you just wish you could run away... )

FIC: Perspective [Feb. 7th, 2007|01:07 pm]

[Current Mood |coldcold]
[Current Music |The Prophet or the Profiteer - Matt Caplan]

Title: Perspective
Pairing/Characters: Mark/Roger friendship, mention of Mark/Maureen, Maureen/Joanne
Word Count: 542
Rating: PG
Summary: Roger tries to distract Mark from the matter of Joanne, by whatever means necessary.
Notes: Written for rentchallenge speed challenge #8.
Disclaimer: I don't own Rent, Mark, Roger, or the loft building. Though that building is for sale right now, if anyone was interested. No, seriously. It is. Those named Benjamin Coffin III need not apply.

( "My ex-girlfriend is dating a woman named Joanne." "Do you have to keep saying her name?" )

"Stay" [Jan. 31st, 2007|08:37 pm]

Title: "Stay"
Word Count: 5,852
Rating: Not quite NC-17 I'd say, but more than R. So a hard R. Pun intended.
Pairing/Characters: Mark/Roger, mention of past Roger/Mimi, and Roger/Mimi friendship
Genre: Romance/drama/fluff/schmaltz
Summary: Post-RENT. It was always Roger who did the running away. (Or, Mark and Roger: The Soap Opera.)
Warnings: A schmaltz warning. Boysex, but no nudity. And language. Oh! And there are long sections in italics to denote memories.
Notes: Written for rentchallenge Speed Challenge #6. And this is cross-posted.
Thanks: To varymydays for encouragement and for making me laugh my ass off when I should have been writing. ^^
Disclaimer: I don't own RENT, or the characters.

(Well, now it was Mark’s turn to leave. That’s all.)

One-Shot: Patience [Jan. 29th, 2007|10:58 pm]

[Current Mood |chipperchipper]
[Current Music |Shambelle---The Police]

Title: Patience
Author: neonnchrome1123, or Jade, as I like to call myself.
Pairing: Mark/Roger
Rating: R for sexuality and some naughty language.
Word Count: 3,787. It's a bit of a doozy.
Warnings: Angst.
Summary: Sometimes, Mark can be a little too patient.
A/N: This thing has literally taken me about six months to write, no exaggeration. I fell out of my Rent phase and now hopefully, I am back in it for a while. So viola! Thanks to smarmyelf for some encouragement. :) This is sort of sort of for prompts #2 and #6 from way back when, but it's a bit off. Somewhat based on the quote, "I'll sit and wonder, of every love that could have been if I'd only thought of something charming to say."
Disclaimer: 'Tis not mine. It never has been and never will be.

Mark's never believed in soulmates.Collapse )

FIC: The World Just Stopped [Jan. 26th, 2007|05:11 pm]

[Current Mood |bouncybouncy]
[Current Music |Half of My Mistakes - Jace Everett]

Title: The World Just Stopped
Characters/Pairing: Mark/Roger, mention of Roger/Mimi, Benny/Mimi and Maureen/Joanne
Word Count: 1542
Rating: PG-13
Summary: While Roger's caught up in events, Mark feels like the world has suddenly stopped.
Notes: Totally Christopher J. Hanke's Mark, and Tim Howar's Roger. This resulted from just seeing Rent with Christopher J. Hanke, and... at the end of "Halloween" he looks completely terrified at the idea of being alone. And then "Goodbye Love" starts, and Roger walks on, and as soon as Mimi mentions Santa Fe Mark's expression shifts from scared to completely broken. It was... ow. Written for the rentforbastards prompt in which a character feels like time is moving too slowly or accelerating too quickly, and this seriouslyrent prompt.
Disclaimer: I don't own Rent, Mark, or Roger. Nor do I own Christopher J. Hanke or Tim Howar, I'm afraid.

( Frozen in a moment... )
